Description of Service
Memoir Circles is a memoir-writing application that provides:
- Guided daily reflection questions
- AI-assisted writing and chapter generation
- Family collaboration and sharing features
- Cloud backup and sync across devices
Account Registration
To use Memoir Circles, you must:
- Sign in with Apple or Google
- Be at least 13 years of age
- Maintain the security of your account
- Provide accurate information
Your Content
You retain full ownership of all content you create in Memoir Circles, including your written responses, memoir chapters, and uploaded photos.
By using the app, you grant us a limited license to:
- Store and back up your content
- Process your content through OpenAI for AI features
- Transmit your content to family members you choose to share with
This license is solely for providing the service to you.
Content Guidelines
You agree not to use Memoir Circles to:
- Create, store, or share illegal content
- Violate others' intellectual property rights
- Harass, abuse, or harm others
- Distribute malware or harmful code
- Attempt to gain unauthorized access to our systems
AI-Generated Content
Memoir Circles uses AI (powered by OpenAI) to generate questions and help improve your writing.
- AI-generated content may contain errors or inaccuracies
- You are responsible for reviewing and editing AI output
- You own any content generated from your inputs
- AI processing is subject to OpenAI's usage policies
Family Sharing & Collaboration
When using family collaboration features:
- You control who can view your content and at what permission level
- You can revoke access at any time
- You are responsible for who you invite
- Shared content may include contributions from family members
Subscriptions & Payments
Premium features require an in-app subscription:
- Subscriptions are processed through Apple
- Auto-renewal occurs unless cancelled before the renewal date
- Cancel anytime through your Apple ID settings
- No refunds for partial subscription periods
- Prices may change with notice
Intellectual Property
Memoir Circles and its original content, features, and functionality are owned by us and protected by copyright, trademark, and other intellectual property laws.
You may not:
- Copy, modify, or distribute the app
- Reverse engineer or decompile the app
- Use our trademarks without permission
- Remove any copyright notices
Service Availability
We strive to provide reliable service, but:
- We do not guarantee uninterrupted or error-free operation
- We may modify, suspend, or discontinue features
- Scheduled maintenance may temporarily affect access
- Your local data remains accessible offline
Limitation of Liability
Memoir Circles is provided "as is" without warranties of any kind.
To the maximum extent permitted by law:
- We are not liable for indirect, incidental, or consequential damages
- Our total liability is limited to amounts you paid us in the past 12 months
- We are not responsible for data loss if you haven't enabled backups

You agree to indemnify and hold harmless Memoir Circles and its operators from any claims, damages, or expenses arising from:
- Your use of the service
- Your violation of these terms
- Your content or its use
- Your violation of any third party rights

Third-Party Services

Termination
We may suspend or terminate your account if you:
- Violate these terms
- Engage in fraudulent activity
- Abuse the service or other users
Upon termination:
- Your access to cloud features ends
- Data on your device remains yours
- You may export your data before termination takes effect
Changes to Terms
We may update these Terms from time to time. We will notify you of significant changes through the app or via email. Continued use after changes constitutes acceptance of the new terms.
Governing Law
These Terms shall be governed by and construed in accordance with applicable law, without regard to conflict of law principles.
Severability
